Learning about fashion in mini
I am trying to learn how to take a stunning gown designed by Antonio Corbie, my friend and the one that’s wanting me to attempt this (see picture #1 ) – duplicate it down to a Barbie sized imitation (see picture #2).
I’m a long way from getting the dress where it needs to be but if I ever get the dress figured out to a point that I am satisfied then I’ll try it in fabric that’s closer to the original. I’ve looked, but so far, I haven’t been able to find anything that works. I haven’t given up though.
The print of the fabric matters regarding the look but the type of fabric is equally important, especially In the smaller sized dress, because the type affects how it folds and hangs. The hem is a challenge also since using fishing line for a ruffled hem as I do in the life size gown makes the ruffles much too large when used on the small gown. The scale of the ruffles turn out all wrong. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m thinking I’ll try a waxed dental floss.
After I get the pattern tweaked and find fabric that will work then I can move on to placing it on a doll with proper skin, hair and eye color. At that point I can work on trying to match Tracies hair style. The earrings shouldn’t be too complicated to create but finding tiny peacock feathers might be hard. I may have to hand paint some.
I’m attempting all this while not having a clue how to do any of it. LOL…..
Stay tuned………it should be interesting.
