Monday Morning 8-11-14
“GOOD MORNING”
I’m almost ready to leave for work. I teach 2 Beginner Sewing Classes on Mondays 🙂
The project for the first one is a small zippered pouch focusing on how to install a zipper. The pouch will also have a fabric flower for embellishment. (This class is at the Neighborhood Recreation Center on Bruce in North Las Vegas)
The second class I have starts at 1:30. The project in that class is a bathroom set that includes a fabric box, tissue box cover and toilet paper cover that all match. (This class is at the Las Vegas Senior Center on the corner of Bonanza and Las Vegas Blvd.)
I enjoy having 2 classes that fill my day on Mondays. Two Tuesday a month I also have 2 classes. My prayer is that soon every day of the week I would have 2 classes for a full work week of sewing and quilting classes.
Ten (or more) classes a week would be wonderful!!!!!
Please, put on your thinking caps and let me know of any place that might need an instructor. I know there are other venues that I haven’t considered. Also if you’d like to have a private or group class with some friends let me know. You and 4 friends make a group class.
While it’s on my mind, I’d like to mention 2 things.
A student in one of my beginners sewing classes recently said she’d like to take quilting but she knew she had to learn to sew first. I explained that’s not true. Many…..MANY,quilters never sewed anything before the learned to quilt and never do learn to make clothing but create stunning quilts.
Then in a quilting class someone told me that she’d like to sew clothes for her child but she’d never be able to understand “those impossible” (her words) patterns so she knew she’d better stick to quilting. I explained that she had the wrong information and that she could easily be taught how to use a pattern.
If you have felt the same about quilting or using a pattern I want to help you set all your fears and doubts aside. “Learning” to sew or quilt is just that, learning. With your willingness and desire to learn and an instructor that knows how to break the process down into easy steps you “can” learn. I know you will be surprised at how quickly and easily you learn the needed skills to create something beautiful.
I’d love to show you how.
Rhonda
