MY OPINION………just my opinion

Today I saw two different ads for companys that sell “direct from China” clothing.  I am angry  and discouraged beyond words………….

I MEAN REALLY???

There are warnings all over the internet, especially on youtube, about these sites and yet people still give them their money instead of supporting local businesses.  The same people complain about the quality and/or fit of the clothing, having to wait months to get their items and ultimately about getting ripped off while  complaining about the economy here in the US. Still they are more than willing to take a chance, ignore the warnings and  send  their money overseas.

I’ve had people say, well places like Walmart import from overseas so what’s the big deal.  They do import and I wish they wouldn’t BUT at least they employ locals.  When I reply in that way I am told that no one makes enough to live on working for those companys.  Maybe they aren’t earning 3 figures but the employees that are working there do end up  putting  money back into the  community.  They use that money to  buy food, pay rent, put gas in their cars, tithe to their church and most,  are more than willing to, give of their small earnings to help others when a tragedy occurs.  Walmart, and stores like them give to local toy drives and the like but, believe me, China will not be donating to the Toys for Tots program this Christmas.

I do understand that earning a higher wage working for those places would be great but  if I were able to work around people wearing fragrances I’d take one of their jobs in a heart beat because bringing home a paycheck, even a small one, is a lot better physically, emotionally and morally than not working at all.

The bottom line is……….If you want to throw away your money buying substandard merchandise while hurting the businesses around you, then by all means do so.  But, if you want a quality product, made with care  from someone that will make sure that your concerns and desires are met then  buy from a local craftsman.  If you can’t  do that then at least buy from a local retail store so they will continue to provide employment in your area.

Just my opinion….. Rant over………….
