Staying “Bizzy”
I’ve been working on more quilts for the Neighborhood Recreation Center. Some I assembled entirely. Others, students sewed the 5 1/2 inch squares together then I attached the border, sandwiched the 3 layers (front, batting, backing fabric), quilted everything together then hand sewed the binding around the outside edge. I don’t have a choice of the fabrics. I take whatever is supplied to me and complete the quilt. Also, I don’t do anything fancy since we are trying to get as many as possible finished in time to be donated so they can be gifted at the Shower for Nellis Air Force base families and it will be taking place pretty soon.
Here are pictures of the most recent ones I’ve completed.
I do all the quilting by machine using my domestic machine with the feed dogs dropped and a darning foot. I try to choose quilting that matches the fabric used for the front of the quilt. It’s difficult to see in the pictures but maybe you can see it well enough to get a general idea of how it looks.
This one had fabric with lots of flowers so I chose bumble bees for the quilting.
This next one had fabric with lots of circles so I used simple circles for the quilting.
The next one had fabric with a sports theme. There were lots of stars mixed in and the fabric on the back was covered with stars to I used stars for the quilting.
This one had fabric with froggies so that’s what I used for the quilting.
The next one was soft pastels so I decided to use butterflies for the quilting.
A couple of pictures showing so of the quilts I’ve completed for the Rec Center. The quilts with the butterflies, the stars and the frog quilting are not included in the completed stack yet.
These last few pictures are of a “Spiderman” quilt-as-you-go type of quilt that I am working on in my spare time. I am quilting each block using a spiderweb design. The solid blue fabric will be the back of the quilt. I will post a picture of the completed quilt when it’s all done and then it will be placed for sale.
Well, that’s it for now. Nite – Nite………….sweet dreams.
