Super Hero cape, mask and wrist bands finished
The cape has 11 detailed super hero logo’s and 89 stars and lighting bolts in different sizes to total 100 items stitched using glow in the dark thread.
This was a simple project as far as construction but stitching the 100 items was extremely time consuming. Some of the items I stitched just once, others I went over the lines 2 times and some 3 times just to give the cape some depth and added dimension.
I think it turned out pretty cute.
I used my little cabbage patch doll to take a few pictures for everyone to see. The items are much to large for him but he was, as always, very cooperative and helpful. I did try to get some pictures of the glow in the dark feature but had no luck getting it to show up. I’m sure there’s a way to do it but, as I’ve said before, photography is not my thing.
This is actually the back of the cape but I just wanted a picture of the mask also.
I created a patch for the lighting bolt using matching fabric heavy interfacing and zigzag stitching. I did the same for the little star that’s on the other side of the mask. It’s a technique I’ve used in the past to create custom patches and it works very well. I like that it is firm enough to hold any shape I need but soft enough that it is safe to use on items for children.
Until next time……………
