Thoughts on Poetry

I like poetry of all genres including free verse but my personal favorite is poetry that uses rhythm and metaphor to convey mood  and emotions. Words are amazing.  They bring forth images even when they stand alone ie:

Whimpering
Piercing
Dismal
Radiant
Ethereal
Poverty

But to take individual words and knit them together in a way that they support, augment enhance, darken or lluminate the ones they are paired with can be captivating  in and of itself but to do so with cadence and rhyme the message becomes captivating, magical, transcending, haunting and powerful.
